I Challenge Myself

Mission: I Challenge Myself provides opportunities for underserved youth to strengthen their minds, bodies and spirits through school-based cycling, fitness, and social-emotional programs. ICM students achieve increased confidence, agency, and collaboration by achieving personal end-of-year goals such as a 100-bike ride or a completed civic engagement project.

“The Environmental Justice grant will help I Challenge Myself teach cycling to hundreds of New York City public school students in Washington Heights, Harlem, and the Bronx. Not only will these students learn to ride, plus advance their biking skills, but they will be connected with civic engagement, college tours, and career options while they are cycling. Civic engagement projects include cleaning up neighborhoods, composting, and redesigning roads to make them safer for both pedestrians and cyclists.” –Quentin Ball, Executive Director
